The Tokyo 2020 Olympics vice-champion in pole vault Anzhelika Sidorova announced that she is ending her sports career. The Russian athlete announced the news on her Telegram channel.
“Unfortunately, over the past few years I have completely stopped enjoying athletics. So, yes, I am officially ending my sports career”, wrote Anzhelika Sidorova.
In February, the Russian athlete told that she would miss the winter season, and in May she announced that she was pregnant.
The 32-year-old Anzhelika Sidorova is a silver medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In 2019, she won a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Doha. She has victories at the European Athletics Championships in 2014 and the Diamond League Finals in 2021. The Russian is twice runner-up at the World Athletics Indoor Championships (2014, 2018) and twice the champion of the European Athletics Indoor Championships (2015, 2019).
