Former champion Caroline Wozniacki received a wild card for next month’s Australian Open. The 33-year-old Danish tennis player, who won the tournament five years ago, took a break from her career in 2020 but returned in August after giving birth to her two children.
Caroline Wozniacki reached the fourth round of the US Open in September in her Grand Slam comeback, losing to eventual winner Cori Coco Gauff.
Caroline Wozniacki was ranked world No 1 in singles for a total of 71 weeks, including at the end of 2010 and 2011. In 2018, she won the Australian Open title, but she is also two=time runner-up at the US open in 2009 and 2014.
The Australian Open at Melbourne Park begins on January 14.
The tournament was extended to 15 days for the first time in an attempt to reduce the number of matches finishing late at night.
