Marina Bassols (Spain) won her second Challenger title after triumphing at the WTA 125 Creand Andorra Open. The 23-year-old Spanish tennis player defeated the Russian teenager Erika Andreeva by 2-0 (7:5, 7:6) in 2:31 hours of play.
Marina Bassols started the match strongly with a break already in the first game and taking a lead of 2:0, but Erika Andreeva answered with a streak of four games in a row, breaking twice her opponent for 4:2. Marina Bassols returned to the match again to equalize to 4:4 and both exchanged one more break for 5:5. In the next game, the Spanish tennis player broke again and took the lead by 6:5 and had the opportunity to serve for the set. The 11th game was quite contested to 30-30, but Marina Bassols won the next two points to win it and close the set at 7:5.
The second set also started with an exchange of breaks. None of the tennis players succeeded in taking a lead until Marina Bassols broke for 4:3 and won her serve to lead by 5:3. At 5:4 the Spanish player served for the match, but the game started terribly to 0-40. Although she turned it into a deuce, however, Erika Andreeva won it and succeeded in equalizing to 5:5. However, on her hand the first serve was also not successful and gave two break points to Marina Bassols, who succeeded in winning it and again served for the match at 6:5. In the 12th game, Marina Bassols was not accurate in the first serve again and failed to score a lost, losing to zero, which turned the set into a tiebreak, which finally the Spanish player won by 7-3 and closed the match.
Thus, Marina Bassols won the title at the WTA 125 Creand Andorra Open. This is her second Challenger title after triumphing in September at the WTA 125 Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana.
On the other hand, Erika Andreeva, who was Junior French Open / Roland Garros runner-up in 2021, lost her second Challenger final and continues to pursue her first title from such rank. She lost the final at the WTA 125 Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole Viktorija Golubic (Switzerland) in October.
