The French team achieved a second consecutive victory at the Women’s World Handball Championships, which is held in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The French, Olympic champions from Tokyo 2020, beat Iceland by 31-22 in Stavanger (Norway) and secured qualification for the next phase of the tournament. Sarah Bouktit and Orlane Kanor scored a goal each for the world runners-up from the previous World Cup 2021.
Slovenia also secured their advancing ahead to after defeated Angola by 30-24 in the other Group D match and also collecting a full set of 4 points after the first two rounds of the group stage. Alja Varagic scored 5 goals for the winners.
In Group H, the Netherlands defeated Congo by 40-20, and the Czech Republic won against Argentina 31-22. The Netherlands and the Czech Republic have 4 points each in the top two places and have secured qualification for the next group stage.
Second victories were achieved by Hungary and Montenegro in Group B. The Hungarian women prevailed over Cameroon with 39:20, and the Montenegrins managed to beat Paraguay with 41:26.
