Nadia Battocletti is an Italian female middle- and long-distance runner. She is a European U20 and U23 champion and the Italian record holder for the indoor 3,000m and 5km road race. She is considered one of the top Italian athletes nowadays.
Nadia Battocletti was born on April 12, 2000, in Cles, Italy. She started in athletics under her father’s coaching, showing great skills and abilities and winning plenty of school awards and prizes.
Nadia Battocletti made her competitive debut in 2015 at Trento Meeting, winning the silver in 600m.
In 2016, she already debuted at the Tbilisi European U18 Championships in 3,000m, but finished 6th in the final and missed the medal for a while. Meanwhile, she earned the 3000m gold at the Jesolo Italian U18 Championships.
Nadia Battocletti won another junior national title in 2017, triumphing with the 3,000m gold at the Rieti Italian U18 Championships before winning her first international medal, earning the 3,000m bronze at the Grosseto European U20 Championships. During the season she competed at the 42nd IAAF World Cross Country Championships and 24th SPAR European Cross Country Championships, but missed the medal for a while.
In 2018, Nadia Battocletti won the gold at the 25th SPAR European Cross Country Championships and triumphed with her first national title in 5,000m at the Pescara Italian Championships. Meanwhile, she finished 8th at the Tampere IAAF World U20 Championships in 3,000m and 5th at the Copenhagen Athletics Games in 1,500m.
Nadia Battocletti continued improving her results in 2019 and winning international titles after triumphing with the gold again at the 26th SPAR European Cross Country Championships. She earned the 5,000m silver at the Boras European U20 Championships, as well as the 3,000 silver at the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships. Meanwhile, she earned gold at the Ancona Italian U20 Indoor Championships in 1,500m and the Rieti Italian U20 Championships in 5,000m.
In 2020, Nadia Battocletti won another national title, winning the 5,000m gold at the Modena Italian Championships. The season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic and most of the international meetings were canceled.
In 2021, Nadia Battocletti made her Olympics debut, competing in the 5,000m event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She finished 7th and missed the medals for a while, but made a wonderful performance, which was marked by most of the specialists. Meanwhile, she earned another gold at the 27th SPAR European Cross Country Championships and won the 5km road race bronze at the BOclassic Alto Adige. In her special 5,000m discipline, Nadia Battocletti won the gold at the Tallinn European Athletics U23 Championships and Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships Super League. She won another national title in 1,500m at the Rovereto Italian Championships. Meanwhile, she debuted in the Diamond League, competing at the Meeting de Paris in 3,000m. However, finished only 13th.
In 2022, Nadia Battocletti won the gold at the XXV Meeting Internazionale Citta di Nembro and the silver at the Meeting de l’Eure in 3,000m. In 5,000m, she competed at the Birmingham Diamond League and Munich European Athletics Championships, but again missed the medals in both competitions. However, at the cross country made a great performance, winning the national title at the Trieste Italian Cross Country Championships and the gold at the Cross Internacional de la Constitucion Alcobendas. Moreover, she defended her title at the 28th SPAR European Cross Country Championships.
Nadia Battocletti missed the medal at the 2023 Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships in 3,000m for a while, finishing 4th in the final. However, she earned the gold at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division and Molfetta Italian Championships in 5,000m and competed at the Budapest World Athletics Championships. Nadia Battocletti earned the gold at the Italian Cross Country Championships and the bronze at the Cross Internacional de la Constitucion Alcobendas. Meanwhile, she earned the 1,500m gold at the 36th Meeting Citta’ Di Padova, as well as the title at the Italian 10,000m Championships.
