Jovana Damnjanovic is a Serbian footballer who plays as a forward for Bayern Frauen in the German Frauen-Bundesliga and the Serbian national football team.
Jovana Damnjanovic was born on November 24, 1994, in Belgrade, Former Yugoslavia. She started in football at an early age and developed her skills in school and the youth FC Perspektiva and later played for Crvena Zvezda. After her great performance for the clubs, she was also called for the Serbian junior national teams. She has 8 matches and 7 goals for Serbia U17 and 20 matches with 22 goals for Serbia U19.
Jovana Damnjanovic signed with VfL Wolfsburg in 2013. She was sent to play in the VfL Wolfsburg II to gain more experience, but later in 2013 returned to the senior team to play in the German Frauen-Bundesliga, where recorded 20 matches and 10 goals. She played also with the club in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where had 4 matches and 2 goals.
In 2015, Jovana Damnjanovic signed with SC Sand in a two-year contract to play again in the German Frauen-Bundesliga. In her maiden season with the club, she made 19 matches in the Bundesliga with 6 goals, as well as 3 matches and 5 goals in the German Cup. Her team finished 9th in the German Frauen-Bundesliga and avoided relegation, but was the runner-up at the German Cup. In the 2016/2017 season, Jovana Damnjanovic had 13 matches and 2 goals in the Bundesliga and 2 matches and 2 goals in the German Cup, again earning the silver in the Cup.
Meanwhile, she was called for the Serbian national team to play at the World Cup Women 2015, where played in all three matches from the groups and scored one goal.
In 2017, Jovana Damnjanovic signed with Bayern Frauen, where is still playing. She appeared in only 3 matches remaining for the 2017/2018 season, but her team finished second in the German Frauen-Bundesliga. In the next season, her team won twice the German Frauen-Bundesliga in the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 seasons and reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the 2019/2020 and 2021/2022 seasons. She played in a total of 110 appearances for Bayern Frauen and scored 46 goals.
Jovana Damnjanovic was in the Serbian national team squad for World Cup Women 2023, where appeared in 8 matches and scored 8 goals and made 2 assists, but unfortunately, her team did not advance to the knockout stage. She also recorded 4 matches in the UEFA Nations League Women 2023/2024 and scored 3 goals and 1 assist.
