Iga Swiatek (Poland) smashed Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2) in the third match from the Group B of the WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico. The Polish tennis player finished at number one in the group after three wins and in the semi-finals will face the world’s number one and top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus).
In the match versus Ons Jabeur, Iga Swiatek one ace against 5 double faults of her opponent. The Polish tennis player also 15 winners against 23 unforced errors for Ons Jabeur, which made the difference and brought the victory to her.
Both players won their serve games in the beginning of the first set and Ons Jabeur first reached a breakpoint in the third game, but her opponent saved it. In the next game Iga Swiatek broke the serve of the Tunisian player and took a lead by 3:1. Since then, the Polish tennis player dominated the set and did not gave a single game to her opponent winning by 6:1.
In the second set both players exchanged break in the start, but Iga Swiatek made one more break, which proved to be enough for her to take the leadership in the set and after another break in the seventh game, she closed the set at 6:2.
Thus, Iga Swiatek finished as number one in the group, without losing a set so far in the tournament. In the semi-finals she will face the second from Group A, the world’s number one Aryna Sabalenka, which is a match of the Top 2 WTA players and considered a final before the final.
