Jessica Pegula (USA) remained unbeaten without losing a set at the WTA Finals in Cancun (Mexico) after winning her third match in the groups versus Maria Sakkari (Greece) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2) in 1:20 hours.
Jessica Pegula was very accurate in her play without extra risks. She made 7 winners and 18 unforced errors, against 12 winners and the terrible 35 unforced errors for her opponent, who also made 8 double faults in the serve.
The match started with the exchange of breaks for both players after which the American tennis player took a lad of 2:1. She won her serve game and made another break to lead by 4:1 and at the end closed the set at 6:3. Jessica Pegula had another flying start in the second set, leading by 4:0 and although Maria Sakkari returned one of the breaks, the American player won it by 6:2.
Thus, Jessica Pegula won the Group A of the WTA Finals in Cancun with a prize pool of 9 million USD. She will wait for the name of her opponent tomorrow, which will be known after the third match from Group B.
