The World Athletics announced the shortlist for the International Fair Play Award. The committee and fans will vote for the five moments to that best exemplifies fair play in athletics.
The nominees are:
Sifan Hassan fell while leading at the last meters of the 10,000m final at the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships, but although losing the honor in the event, she went on to claim 5,000m silver and 1,500m bronze
Letesenbet Gidey went back to support Sifan Hassan after her fall at the Budapest World Athletics Championships, which was one of the most dramatic athletics moments for the season. She eventually secured the silver in the women’s 10,000m .
Shericka Jackson and Sha’Carri Richardson spontaneously embracing at the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships after their gold and bronze medal wins in the women’s 200m final.
Nina Kennedy and Katie Moon decided to share the pole vault gold at the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships.
Jessica Warner-Judd shaked hands with the final placed runner at the 10,000m final at the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships, although she finished 8th.
Daniel Ebenyo saluted his teammate Sebastian Sawe as Sawe, who overtook him for gold at the men’s half marathon at the 2023 Riga World Athletics Road Running Championships.
The winner will be revealed on the World Athletics Awards in Monaco on December 11.
