Eva Lys (Germany) qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 250 Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The young German tennis talent eliminated Ekaterina Makarova (Russia) after 2-0 (6:2, 6:2) in only 68 minutes.
Eva Lys, who will play for the first time in the semi-finals of the WTA 250 tournament, started the match hardly and needed to save three breakpoints before winning her first serve game. However. she made an immediate two breaks to take a lead by 5:0, which was enough for her to close the first set at 6:2. The second set started with a break for Ekaterina Makarova, but the German tennis talent returned the break immediately and after two more breaks again closed the set at 6:2.
