Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing after very thought match versus the Russian teenage talent Mirra Andreeva. The Kazakhstani tennis player lost the first set, but succeeded to turn over the match and finally won by 2-1 (2:6, 6:4, 6:1) in 1:51 hours of play.
The 16-year-old Russian player Mirra Andreeva was close to reach her first victory versus Top 10 player, winning the first set by 6:2 after breaking twice her opponent. She led by 4:2 in the second set with one break, but Elena Rybakina won the next four games of the set after equalized to 4:4 with returning the break and taking another break to close the set at 6:4 in her favor. The third set was in total dominance of the Kazakhstani tennis player, who won another 5 games in a row to take a lead by 5:0 with two breaks and although Mirra Andreeva took her serve to reduce to 5:1, Elena Rybakina closed the set at 6:1 from her thsecond rd matchpoint and won the match
In the quarter-finals, Elena Rybakina will face the winner between the top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) and Jasmine Paolini (Italy).
In another match from the day, the second-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) also qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 China Open after defeated her compatriot Magda Linette by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1) in 66 minutes. In the next round, Iga Swiatek will face the winner between the 9th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) and Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine).
