The 31-year-old setter Naz Aydemir Akyol said goodbye to the Turkey Women’s Volleyball National Team. The player, who is one of the most important for the team announced her decision on New Year’s Eve on the social network Instagram. She didn’t specify the reasons for retiring from the competition at the international level.
Naz Aydemir has been wearing the team’s jersey for 17 years.
“With only a few minutes left until 2022, I wanted to share with you some information about my own sports life. It’s time to say goodbye to my national jersey, which I’ve been wearing with great pride since 2004, and to my federation presidents and officials, the technical team, medical team, and teammates with whom I had the opportunity to work for 17 years, to my teammates with whom I wore the jersey with pride”, wrote Naz Aydemir Akyol.
During her senior career, she won 11 medals, 2 of which were gold medals: in the CEV European Games and Montreux Volley Masters. She participated at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Olympics.
She has four CEV Champions League championships, winning three with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahce. She also has three FIVB Club World Championship, winning two with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahce.
She won the award for best in his position several times and at club level.
