Sweden shocked Italy by 1-0 at the UEFA Women’s Nations League A

Sweden shocked by 1-0 Italy as a visitor in the second match from the Group 4 at the UEFA Women’s Nations League A. The only goal for Swedish national team scored Johanna Rytting Kaneryd already in the 14th minute.

Despite the result, Italy was better on the group and had more goal attempts, but the attacks of Valentina Giacinti, Martina Piemonte, and Sofia Cantore were stopped by perfectly playing Swedish defenders Nathalie Bjorn and Jonna Andersson, while their shots were mostly out of the goal. The only one accurate shot in the target was reflected the Swedish goalkeeper Jennifer Falk.

Spain is leader in the group with 6 points, while Italy and SSweden are with 3 points and Switzerland is pointless on the last place.

In the other matches from the UEFA Women’s Nations League A, Germany defeated Iceland by 4-0 after goals of Klara Buhl (19′ and 78′), Giulia Gwinn (35′), and Lea Schuller (68′), while Scotland and Belgium made a 1-1 draw with Kassandra Ndoutou Eboa Missipo giving advance to the visitors in the 52nd minute, but Sophie Howard equalized in the 90+3 minute.

Austria lost to France by 0-1 after the goal of Wendie Renard in the 5th minute and the Netherlands took the victory versus England by 2-1 with the goals of Lieke Martens (34′) and Renate Jansen (90′), while Alessia Russo (64′) scored for the visitors.

Portugal won versus Norway by 3-2 after a great turnovers. The visitors took a lead by 0-1 with the goal of Frida Leonhardsen-Maanum in the 32nd minute, but Andreia Jacinto (38′) and Carole Costa (44′) turnover over the score by the end of the first half. Elisabeth Terland equalized in the 58th minute, but Carole Costa scored her second goal in the 69th minute to bring the victory to her team.

A hattrick of Pernille Harder plus one goal by Sanne Troelsgaard and Frederike Thogersen brought the victory for Denmark, who smashed Wales by 5-1 as a visitor. The only goals for the hosts scored Jessica Fishlock.
