Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) qualified for the semifinals of the US Open tennis championship. The Belarusian tennis player, who will lead the WTA world rankings from next Monday, easily won her quarterfinal match against Qinwen Zheng (China) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4) in 74 minutes of play.
Aryna Sabalenka dominated from the start and won the first five games, closing the first set with 6:1. In the second set, the Chinese tennis player was equal, but after a break in the seventh game, Aryna Sabalenka led by 4:3 and won the match after 6:4 with her second match point.
Aryna Sabalenka recorded 17 winners against only 13 for her opponent, while Qinwen Zheng made 16 unforced errors, versus 12 for the Belarusian tennis player.
In the semi-finals, the second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka will face the winner of the match between Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic) and Madison Keys (USA).
This season, Aryna Sabalenka won the titles at the Australian Open, WTA 1000 Madrid Open, and WTA 500 Adelaide International. She also was the runner-up at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open and WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
