Kenyan long-distance runner Beatrice Chebet won the 3,000m gold at the Xiamen Diamond League. The Kenyan athlete triumphed with the gold taking the distance for 8:24.05 min.
Laura Galvan (Mexico) finished second in a national record time of 8:28.05 min, while another Kenyan athlete Margaret Akidor earned the bronze in a Personal Best time of 8:29.88 min.
Chebet is just fresh from competing at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary where she finished third in 5,000m behind Faith Kipyegon and Sifan Hassan.
The Top 5 at the Xiamen Diamond League in 3,000m were completed by Aynadis Mebratu (Ethiopia) Caroline Nyaga (Kenya).
Beatrice Chebet is a Kenyan long-distance runner. In 2022, she won the silver medal in the 5,000m at the World Championships, and became Commonwealth, African and Diamond League champion. Chebet claimed the gold medal for the women’s senior race at the 2023 World Cross Country Championships. She took the world under-20 title in the 5,000m in 2018 and at the 2019 World Cross Country Championships.
