Bulgarian tennis player Viktoriya Tomova won her first WTA 125 title after triumphing at the WTA 125 Chicago Women’s Open with a prize pool of 115,000 USD. The Bulgarian prevailed in the final over Claire Liu (USA) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4) in 1:17 hours of play.
Viktoriya Tomova started strong and gave only a game to her opponent in the first set. In the second, she also held the initiative and led 5:2, having a match point, which she missed and mad e a lot of mistakes in the next two games to allow her opponent to equalize the break, but made another break at 5:4 and won the victory.
This is the most significant trophy in the career of Viktoriya Tomova and second for her this year after her success at the $80,000 W80 Zaragoza (Spain). She has a total of 18 professional tennis titles.
Following the success, she climbed to world’s No 82.
