Victoria Azarenka rejected the tournament in Dubai due to injury

Victoria Azarenka

The former number 1 in the world WTA rankings Victoria Azarenka from Belarus rejected the strong tennis tournament in Dubai (UAE) with a prize pool of 1.84 million USD.

Victoria Azarenka has an injury on the back and will be replaced in the main scheme of Italian Martina Trevisan.

“Unfortunately, this week I will not be able to play in Dubai, as this is not the best solution for my body. I wish you all the health and a successful tournament. Hope to see you next year”, said Victoria Azarenka.

Because of the injury, Victoria Azarenka also gave up before the semi-final match against the Garbine Muguruza (Spain) at the Doha Tournament (Qatar) last week.

Victoria Azarenka is a Belarusian professional tennis player, who is a former world No 1 in singles, having claimed the top ranking for the first time on January 30, 2012. She was the year-end No. 1 in 2012 and has held the top ranking for a combined total of 51 weeks. Victoria Azarenka has won 21 WTA singles titles, including two Grand Slam singles titles at the 2012 and 2013 Australian Open.
