Yaroslava Mahuchikh defended her European Indoor title in the high jump. The 21-year-old Ukrainian won the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul with 1.98m. The Ukrainian athlete cleared all heights from 1.91m to 1.98m on her first attempts and then made three mistakes at 2.03m.

Britt Weerman (Netherlands) fought for the silver medal with 1.96m, which equaled the national record.

The Ukrainian triumph in the sector was completed by Kateryna Tabashnyk, who won the bronze with 1.94m. With the same result, but due to more mistakes at lower heights, the fourth was the European bronze medalist from last summer, Angelina Topic (Serbia).

Yaroslava Mahuchikh is a Ukrainian high jumper. She was the Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medalist, the 2019 and 2022 World Championships silver medalist, and the 2022 World Indoor Championships gold medalist. At the 2022 Brussels Diamond League, Mahuchikh jumped 2.05m, which is her outdoor personal best and a Ukrainian record. In 2021, she achieved her indoor personal best of 2.06m, which is also a national record.
