Tottenham missed winning at home versus Bristol City at FA WSL after the match ended 1-1.
The hosts had stronger possession during the whole match and created more goal attempts, but the visitors gave their best, as the points were important for the team, which is in danger of relegation.
Tottenham’s defender Siri Worm gave the hosts an early lead already in the 3rd minute. During the whole
first half, Tottenham dictated the game and created more goal attempts. Rianna Dean almost scored a second for Spurs in the 20th minute when Baggaley spilled a cross to the striker, who couldn’t keep her shot down from six yards out. Kit Graham had chances to score but missed at very comfortable positions. Thus, the first half ended with a small advantage for the hosts.
The second half started more equally with Bristol City making some dangerous attacks. In 52nd minute, Gemma Evans headed in off the post from Ella Mastrantonio’s deep corner. Tottenham woke up and started to attack in an attempt to score again. Bristol withstood some heavy pressure in the closing stages from successive Spurs corners, but Baggaley produced a vital low save from Rachel Williams’ header and Faye Bryson then cleared off the line from the following corner to keep the score level. However, the match ended a draw.
“At the end of the day, both of us are battling hard for points and the game can become a bit stretched at times, which happened today”, said the Tottenham manager Rehanne Skinner. “We started the first half really brightly and we were really good early on but we need to show that we can be more clinical. We’ve got to be better in front of goal, we’re doing better in every third of the pitch and creating chances but we’ve got to believe we can get those goals”, added she.
