Ana Peleteiro is a Spanish triple jumper athlete and the current national record holder. She won the gold medal in the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships and the bronze medals at the 2018 World Indoor Championships and 2018 European Championships. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Ana Peleteiro won the bronze medal with a national record of 14.87 m. She received the award for Best Young Athlete from the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation in 2011.
Ana Peleteiro was born on December 2, 1995, in Ribeira (A Coruna), Galicia, Spain. She was adopted by a Spanish family as an only child and her new family gave her the opportunity to train in athletics. She quickly showed her talent and won plenty of medals in the junior tour.
Ana Peleteiro made her international debut in 2011, winning the bronze at the Lille IAAF World Youth Championships and gold at the 11th European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon, Turkey. Meanwhile, during the season, she won gold at the Granollers Spanish U18 Championships and Zaragoza Spanish U18 Indoor Championships.
In 2012, Ana Peleteiro won the triple jump gold at the Spanish Club Championships in Zaragoza, Aranjuez, and Valladolid, but her biggest success came at the Barcelona IAAF World Junior Championships, where she won the title.
She continue performing strongly in 2013, winning the gold at the Castellon Spanish Junior Championships and the bronze at the Rieti European Junior Championships. During the season, she won silver at the Spanish Indoor Championships and gold at the Antequera Spanish Junior Indoor Championships.
In 2014, Ana Peleteiro made a wonderful indoor season, winning the gold at the Spanish Indoor Championships, Spanish Junior Indoor Championships, and the Antequera Spanish Indoor Junior Club Championships. During the outdoor season, she won the gold at the Castello Spanish Junior Championships and Salamanca Memorial Carlos Gil Perez. She also competed at the European Team Championships and Eugene IAAF World Junior Championships, but remained out of the podium.
In 2015, Ana Peleteiro proved to be one of the top Spanish athletes in the triple jump, winning the gold at the Castellon Spanish Championships and the bronze at the Antequera Spanish Indoor Championships. She also won the silver at the Salamanca Memorial Carlos Gil Perez.
Ana Peleteiro started the 2016 season strongly with gold at the Spanish Indoor Championships and silver at the Madrid Reunion Internacional. She competed at the Portland IAAF World Indoor Championships, remaining only 11th in the final. During the outdoor season, she won the bronze at the Lisboa Benfica Athletics Meeting.
In 2017, Ana Peleteiro won the gold at the Spanish Indoor Championships and Spanish U23 Indoor Championships, as well as the silver at the Val-de-Reuil Meeting National, before competing at the Beograd European Indoor Championships, where finished 5th. During the outdoor season, she won the silver at the Huelva Meeting Iberoamericano de Atletismo and gold at the Spanish U23 Championships, before her strong performance at the Bydgoszcz European U23 Championships, winning the silver, and Barcelona Spanish Championships, winning the gold. Ana Peleteiro competed also at the London IAAF World Championships in Athletics but remained 7th with a personal best of 14.23m in the final.
Ana Peleteiro made a fantastic season in 2018, winning the bronze medals at the Birmingham IAAF World Indoor Championships and Berlin European Athletics Championships. She also debuted in the Diamond League, finishing 6th in Paris and Raba, as well as 8th at the Zurich Weltklasse Diamond League Final. Meanwhile, she won the gold at the domestic Getafe Spanish Championships and Valencia Spanish Indoor Championships and improved her personal best to 14.55m.
In 2019, Ana Peleteiro continue dominating the triple jump in Europe and to be one of the world’s top competitors in the event. She won the gold at the Glasgow European Indoor Championships ad silver at the Bydgoszcz European Athletics Team Championships, however, remained only 6th at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics. Meanwhile, during the season, Ana Peleteiro won the gold at the La Nucia Spanish Championships and Karlsruhe Indoor Meeting, as well as bronze at the Meeting Citta Di Padova and Huelva Meeting Iberoamericano de Atletismo. At the Paris Diamond League, she set her new personal best at 14.59m but remained only 5th.
In 2020 season was too short and her most significant achievement was winning the gold at the Spanish Indoor Championships.
However, Ana Peleteiro started the 2022 season strongly, winning the silver at the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships and gold at the Madrid Spanish Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, she won the bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with a national record and personal best of 14.87 m, as well as gold at the Getafe Spanish Championships and silver at the Meeting de Atletismo Toni Bonet.
Ana Peleteiro missed most of the 2022 season due to pregnancy. During the indoor season, she won the gold at the Spanish Indoor Championships and bronze at the Meeting Elite de Miramas. She competed at the Beograd World Athletics Indoor Championships but remained only 8th.
Ana Peleteiro returned on the track only in June 2023, winning the gold at the VII Memorial Jose Antonio Cansino.
