Sofia Kenin defeated Sloane Stephens to advance to the second round of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open

The 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin (USA) defeated her compatriot Sloane Stephens by 2-0 (6:4, 6:1) and advanced to the second round of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open.

Sofia Kenin, who is currently only WTA No 170, made a great match and did not give any chance to her opponent. Sloane Stephens started the match perfectly as she took a lead by a break in the first set to lead by 2:1, but her joy was short and her opponent turned over the match with two breaks and closed the set by 6:4. The American talent Peyton Stearns continue her strong play after winning two ITF titles this season and reaching the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 ATX Open in Austin, today she qualified for the second round after defeating Rebeka Masarova (Spain) by 2-1 (4:6, 6:4, 6:4).

Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) served one of the surprises from the second day of the main scheme of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open. She defeated Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan) by 2-1 (6:3, 4:6, 6:4).
