Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce remains silent about her future

Jamaican women’s sprint superstar Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has chosen to remain tight-lipped about her future after competing at the Paris Olympics this summer. The two-time Olympic and three-time world champion in 100m did not start in the semifinals in the discipline at the Paris Games.

“I can’t answer that question exactly”, said Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. “It’s hard to find the words to describe my disappointment. I know my fans share that and carry that frustration with me. I have been blessed to have the support of my fans since my Olympic debut in 2008. I am extremely grateful for the support of my fans, my country and the greater community who have supported me throughout my career. My faith has always sustained my confidence in my journey. Thank you for continuing to be with me today and every day”, added she.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is widely regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time. One of the most enduring track athletes in history, her career spans over a decade and a half, from the late 2000s to the 2020s. Her success on the track, including her consistency at major championships, helped to usher in the golden age of Jamaican sprinting. In the 100m, her signature event, she is a two-time Olympic gold medallist and a five-time world champion. In the 200m, she has won gold and silver at the World Athletics Championships, as well as an Olympic silver medal.
