Alexandra Trusova announced that she was leaving Eteri Tutberidze’s group just a few days after the control competitions of Russian figure skaters were held. The new coach of the silver medalist from the Beijing 2022 Olympics in February is Svetlana Sokolovskaya. So Alexandra Trusova moves to the CSKA club and will train in the same group with her friend Mark Kondratiuk.
Alexandra Trusova leaves Eteri Tutberidze for the second time. The first was in 2020 when сhe joined Evgeni Plushenko’s team. In 2021, however, she returned to the legendary trainer Eteri Tutberidze. After the silver in Beijing, where her teammate Anna Shcherbakova became the champion, it was even speculated that she might give up because of her disappointment with this ranking. According to people close to figure skating in Russia, the reason for the current change is the heavy training regime under Eteri Tutberidze.
We should remind that Russian and Belarusian athletes are excluded from participating in international tournaments because of the war in Ukraine. Thus, only domestic competitions remain for them, including the newly organized “Grand Prix” home series. The announced prize fund for the national championship of Russia, which will be held in December, is impressive. For first place, the prize is 2.5 million rubles, for second 1.5 million rubles, for third 1 million rubles.
