Qualifiers Viktorija Golubic and Anna Kalinskaya match in quarter-finals of WTA 250 Monterrey Open

The qualifiers Viktorija Golubic and Anna Kalinskaya continue their good performance at WTA 250 Monterrey Open, qualifying for the quarter-finals. Both will meet in a match tomorrow at the central court in Monterey.

Anna Kalinskaya, who eliminated the No 2 seeded Nadia Podoroska in the Round of 32, won her match versus Nina Stojanovic by 2-0 (6:4; 6:3). Anna Kalinskaya started the match carefully and nervously. She lost her first serving game but succeeded to return the break immediately. After winning her second service game, she made a break and took advantage, leading with 4:1. When everyone expected an easy win for Anna Kalinskaya in the set, she made a terrible mistake and lost the 7th game, receiving a very bad break. However, in the last 10th game of the set, she succeeded to register another break and won by 6:4.

The second set started without breaks. Both players were winning their own serve until the 8th game, when Anna Kalinskaya scored a break and won her serving game, which won the match.

The other qualifier Viktorija Golubic reached the Round of 16, after eliminating Anna Blinkova in the previous round. She faced the American Lauren Davis and won the match by 2-0 (6:3; 6:1) for one hour and 10 minutes.
