The women’s national volleyball team of Poland qualified for the quarterfinals of the European Championship 2021. The team led by Jacek Nawrocki turned and prevailed over Ukraine with 3-1 (21:25, 25:21, 25:22, 25:17) in the last match of the Round of 16, played tonight in front of only about 300 spectators in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Thus, Poland continues to the quarterfinals, where it expects Turkey, which previously eliminated the Czech Republic with a 3-1. The match is on Tuesday (August 31). The team of Ukraine led by Vladimir Orlov ended its participation in Eurovolley 2021.
The Ukrainians made it very difficult for their rivals in the important match and even managed to surprise them in the first game, winning it with 25:21. In the next three, however, Poland showed class and opportunities, not allowing more twists for success with 3-1.
Zuzanna Efimienko-Mlotkowska became the most useful for Poland with 17 points (9 blocks, 3 aces, and 38% efficiency in attack) for the victory. Magdalena Stysiak (33% efficiency in attack) and reserve Martyna Czyrnianska (2 blocks, 46% efficiency in attack and 30% positive reception) added 14 points for success.
For the Ukrainians, Nadiia Kodola (31% efficiency in attack) and the reserve Anna Kharchynska (2 blocks and 38% efficiency in attack) finished with 12 and 11 points.
