Paula Badosa defeated Leylah Fernandez and advanced to the third round of the WTA 500 Credit One Charleston Open

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa defeated Leylah Fernandez (Canada) by 2-0 (7:5, 7:6) and qualified for the third round of the WTA 500 Credit One Charleston Open. The match lasted almost two hours and both players had their chances.

The first set started perfectly for the Canadian player, who took an early break and took a lead of 3:0. Paula Badosa succeeded to return the break in the 7th game of the set and thus equalized the score. The Spanish tennis player made another break in the 11th game and thus closed the set at 7:5.

Paula Badosa started the second set with a break in the longest game of the match. Both players continue the set winning their serving games until the 8th game when Leylah Fernandez returned the break and equalized the score. Thus, the set entered into a tiebreak, which the Spanish player won by 8-6 and the match by 2-0.

In the third round of the WTA 500 Credit One Charleston Open, Paula Badosa will face the 19-year-old Russian player Diana Shnaider, who made a surprise eliminating her compatriot and 5th-seeded Veronika Kudermetova after 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).

Daria Kasatkina (Russia) needed less than an hour to win her match versus Madison Brengle (USA) by 2-0 (6:, 6:1) and in the next round will face Bernarda Pera (USA), who eliminated Cristina Bucsa (Spain) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).

Julia Grabher (Austria) also advanced to the third round after defeating Sachia Vickery (USA) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2) and will face Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia), who eliminated Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3).

Caroline Dolehide (USA) defeated the Czech teenager Linda Fruhvirtova by 2-1 (6:2, 5:7, 6:3), while Madison Keys (USA) eliminated her compatriot Hailey Baptiste by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2).
