The college basketball player of UConn Huskies, Paige Bueckers, was named the winner of the Naismith Trophy, presented to the nation’s Player of the Year.
The guard Paige Bueckers averaged 20.0 points and 5.9 assists per game while hitting 52.8% of her shots from the field. She also scored 45.9% of her three-pointers. Her 64 treys were also a team-high, and she also shot 86.9% from the free-throw line.
She led UConn Huskies to its 13th-straight Final Four appearance, gaining a lot of trophies for the performance. Paige Bueckers was also named AP First-Team All American and the Big East Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Meanwhile, UConn Huskies ran into one of the toughest defenses they faced this season, falling 69-59 to Arizona in the national semifinals at the Alamodome, being eliminated a step from the finals. Paige Bueckers finished the game with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, but she went 5-of-13 from the field.
“I learned a lot on the court, off the court – just the details of the game”, said Paige Bueckers.
