Marina Stakusic surprisingly eliminated top-seeded Jelena Ostapenko in the second round of the WTA 500 Guadalajara Open

The Canadian tennis player Marina Stakusic made a surprise after eliminating Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), who is top-seeded in the main draw, of the women’s tournament WTA 500 Guadalajara Open in Mexico.

The 19-year-old Marina Stakusic achieved success with 2-1 (6:3, 5:7, 7:6) and qualified for the quarter-finals of the tennis tournament, where she will face Magdalena Frech (Poland). The Polish tennis player, who is fifth-seeded in the main draw, eliminated Ashlyn Krueger (USA) after 2-1 (3:6, 6:3, 6:1).

Caroline Garcia (France) also advances to the quarter-finals after defeating Ena Shibahara (Japan) by 2-0 (7:6, 7:6). The fourth-seeded French tennis player will face in the next round Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic), who defeated the qualifier from Italy, Lucrezia Stefanini by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1).
