Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) qualified for the quarterfinals of the US Open for the second consecutive year after eliminating the fifth seed and finalist from Roland Garros and Wimbledon Jasmine Paolini (Italy) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).
Karolina Muchova will face Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) in the next round, after the Brazilian tennis player eliminated the former world’s number one Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) by 2-1 (6:2, 3:6, 6:3).
Karolina Muchova scored 16 winners against Jasmine Paolini‘s 10 and continued her dream comeback from the injury that knocked her down just after the US Open 2023. Apart from that, the Czech tennis player had a number of injuries in 2022 and it was the physical problems that stopped her from developing her full potential.
The US Open 2024 is just the fifth tournament since the return of the 28-year-old Czech tennis player, who badly needed a strong run in New York to retain her Top 100 spot.
