Jessica Pegula reached the semifinals in WTA 1000 Miami Open for the first time in her career

The fifth-seeded Paula Badosa was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 Miami Open

The Spanish tennis player did not finish her match against the 16th-seeded American Jessica Pegula. At a score of 1:4 in the first set after 18 minutes on the court, Paula Badosa gave up due to physical problems.

Jessica Pegula reached the semifinals in Miami for the first time in her career. In the semi-finals, she will face Iga Swiatek, who eliminated Petra Kvitova on the quarter-finals with 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).

On her route to the semi-finals, Jessica Pegula had pretty easy matches overcoming Sloane Stephens, Elena Rybakina and Anhelina Kalinina.

Jessica Pegula has a career-high WTA singles ranking of No 14 and a career-high WTA doubles ranking of No 28. She has won one WTA singles title and two WTA double titles and is a two-time Grand Slam singles quarterfinalist at the Australian Open.
