Jana Fett defeated Saisai Zheng at the start of the WTA 250 Thailand Open

Jana Fett (Croatia) defeated Saisai Zheng (China) at the start of the WTA 250 Thailand Open in Hua Hin with a prize money of 267,082 USD. The Croatian tennis player made a fantastic comeback after losing the first set and succeeded to close the match after 2:31 hours of play.

Saisai Zheng started strongly the match after made two breaks and lead by 3:0. Jana Fett returned one of the breaks, but the Chinese player rebroke again and kept her lead. Thus, she closed the first set at 6:0 in 39 minutes of play.

Saisai Zheng started the second set with a break as well, but this time Jana Fett won five games in a row, which proved to be enough for closing the set at 6:3. The third decisive set started with exchange of breaks, but in favor of Jana Fett, who finally led by 5:2 and served for the match. However, she missed three breakpoints on her own serve and finally Saisai Zheng reached a break to stay in the match. However, in the next game, the Croatian tennis player broke again and won the match.

In the next round, Jana Fett will face Varvara Gracheva (France), who eliminated Taylah Preston (Australia) after 2-0 (6:1, 6:4).

Meanwhile, Rebeka Masarova (Spain) eliminated Anna Bondar (Hungary) after 2-1 (3:6, 7:6, 7:5) and Arianne Hartono (Netherlands) defeated Moyuka Uchijima (Japan) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1).
