Iga Swiatek won the title at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open

Iga Swiatek won the tournament WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open after an easy victory in the final versus Maria Sakkari with 2-0 (6:4, 6:1). The Polish tennis player adapts better to the strong wind and leaves no doubt about her superiority. This is the second WTA 1000 title for Iga Swiatek since the beginning of the year, after already triumphing in Doha, but also she reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

At the beginning of the match, both tennis players had problems with serving due to the weather conditions and came to a series of breaks. Iga Swiatek started making safer shots, while her opponent took unnecessary risks. At 5:4 in her favor, Iga Swiatek missed two set points, but the third was realized after a double fault by Maria Sakkari.

The second set was not equal. The Greek tennis player did not believe she could make a turnaround, and her mistakes followed one after another. Iga Swiatek recorded her 11th consecutive victory and from today will be world’s No 2, while Maria Sakkari will climb to her career-record world’s No 3 position.

Iga Swiatek is a Polish professional tennis player. She is the youngest player in the top ten of the Women’s Tennis Association rankings. In her career, she won one Grand Slam title (2020 French Open / Roland Garros), three WTA 1000 Masters titles, and one WTA 500 title.
