Iga Swiatek won her fourth Grand Slam title defeating Karolina Muchova at Roland Garros final

Iga Swiatek won her fourth Grand Slam title after one of the most dramatic victories in her career, defeating Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (6:2, 5:7, 6:4) in 2:49 hours.

Even the first set could not be called protocol for the top-seeded Polish player, although with this result she started the usual scenario in her Grand Slam finals. She closed the set at 6:2 after two breaks and total domination on the court.

From then on, however, nerves and tension ruled the actions of both tennis players, which increased the number of mistakes as well as breaks.

Iga Swiatek blew a one-break advantage at 3:1 in the second set and let her serve drop in the fifth game – at the same stage in the previous set, she had fended off a break point in a 10-minute duel. In the end, after a bunch of twists and turns until the end of the set, Karolina Muchova won the set and equalized the score.

In the third set, nerves, changes of initiative and dramatic moments ruled again. Unfortunately for Karolina Muchova, she lost the match with a break and a double fault, but she can still be more than proud of what she achieved in Paris.

Iga Swiatek triumphed with the Roland Garros titles in 2020, 2022 and 2023, as well as US Open in 2022.
