Top-seeded and world’s number one Iga Swiatek (Poland) qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open. The Polish player defeated Sorana Cirstea (Romania) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) in 1:23 hours.
Iga Swiatek took the control of the match from the very beginning and did not lose it by the very end. Both players exchanged a break in the beginning of the first set, but the Polish player succeeded to make two more breaks by the end to win by 6:2.
The second set started with 4 consecutive games for Iga Swiatek, who lead by 4:0 and despite Sorana Cirstea returning one of the breaks, the Polish player did not miss the chance to close the set at 6:3 and win the match by 2-0.
In the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open, Iga Swiatek will face the 10th-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan), who defeated Karolína Muchova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (7:6, 2:6, 6:4).
In the other semi-finals, 7th-seeded Maria Sakkari (Greece) will play versus 2nd-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus).
