Iga Swiatek qualified for the final of the WTA 1000 Rome Open

World number one and top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) qualified for the final of the clay tennis tournament WTA 1000 Rome Open with a prize money of 5.5 million USD for the third time in her career. The Polish tennis star defeated third-seeded Cori Coco Gauff (USA) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3) in an hour and 48 minutes of play.

In contention for the trophy, Iga Swiatek will face the winner of the second semi-final between Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) and Danielle Collins (USA).

The success for Iga Swiatek was the tenth in 11 games against Cori Coco Gauff. The final will be her 12th at the WTA 1000 level.

Cori Coco Gauff led 2:0 after an early break against the Polish player, but the world’s number one quickly broke back to equalize. Iga Swiatek made a decisive second break against her opponent for 5:4 and ended the first set at 6:4. In the second set, Iga Swiatek won 4:2 and closed the match with his first match point for the final 6:3.
