Iga Swiatek parted ways with her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski

The leader in the world rankings in tennis, Iga Swiatek, parted ways with her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski after 3 years of working together.

“After 3 years, in which I achieved the best results of my career, my coach Tomasz Wiktorowski and I decided to part ways. I want to thank him for the joint work, which I value very highly”, wrote Iga Swiatek in her social media account.

The Polish tennis player hired Tomasz Wiktorowski at the end of the 2021 season and under his guidance won four of her five Grand Slam titles, established herself as the No 1 in women’s tennis, and in 2022 recorded the longest winning streak of the century at 37 consecutive matches. Iga Swiatek took 19 of her 22 trophies under the specialist’s coaching, as well as silver at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Tomasz Wiktorowski was named the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Coach of the Year for 2023.

“He joined my team three seasons ago when I was in dire need of a change and a new approach to my game. His experience, analytical and strategic thinking and vast knowledge of tennis have helped me achieve things I never even dreamed of and after only a few months of working together, our main goal was to become number 1 in the world, and it was coach Tomasz Wiktorowski who said it. Our goals were high, we started each tournament with the clear task of winning it and at four Grand Slam tournaments”, wrote the tennis player. “Coach, THANK YOU, I wish you all the best. I know you want to rest after these three years of hard work and a lot of traveling to spend more time with your loved ones and I hope you get what you got need”, added she.

Iga Swiatek pulled out of this week’s strong WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing for personal reasons and was not defending his title. The Pole confirmed that she is in the process of looking for a new mentor.

“Because of this important change in my team, I wanted to give myself a few weeks before starting work with a new coach. I am in the process of talking with several specialists from abroad (not Polish), because I feel I am ready for the next step in my career. I will I will inform when I make a decision”, added Iga Swiatek.
