Iga Swiatek advanced to the semifinals of the WTA 1000 Dubai Tennis Championships

The top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) advanced to the semifinals of the WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a prize pool of 2.788 million USD.

The 21-year-old Polish tennis player did not appear on the court after her rival and former world’s number one Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) withdrew due to illness.

Karolina Pliskova qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine) by 2-1 (7:5, 6:7, 6:2) in the round of 16.

Iga Swiatek, a three-time Grand Slam champion, has won her last five matches, including successfully defending her title in Qatar last week.

The Polish tennis player will face in the semifinals the winner of the American clash between Madison Keys and Cori Coco Gauff.
