Fifth-seeded Magdalena Frech advanced to the second round of the WTA 500 Guadalajara Open

The fifth-seeded Magdalena Frech (Poland) advanced to the second round of the WTA 500 Guadalajara Open after defeated Emina Bektas (USA) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) in 1:21 hours of play. The Polish tennis player scored as much as 11 aces and made only 3 double faults, while her opponent recorded only 4 aces and 5 double faults.

Magdalena Frech made an early break in the first set, which proved to be enough for her to close it at 6:4 without giving a break point to her opponent. The second set was quite more tough for the fifth-seeded Polish player. Magdalena Frech gave three breakpoints to Emina Bektas already in the second game of the set, but later succeeded to save all of them and won the game. She even broke the serve of her opponent in the next game, but the American player returned the break immediately and equalized to 2:2. Magdalena Frech stabilized her serve and it started working for her as in the next games she did not have a breakpoint to her opponent again and even succeeded to break “on zero” in the seventh game. At the end she closed the second set at 6:4 and won the match.

In the next round, the fifth-seeded Magdalena Frech will face Ashlyn Krueger (USA), who earlier defeated Tatjana Maria (Germany) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:2).

In the other matches from the day, Marina Stakusic (Canada) eliminated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (Slovakia) after 2-0 (6:2, 6:4), Marie Bouzkova (Czech republic) won her match versus Alexandra Eala (Philippines) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:2) and Lucrezia Stefanini (Italy) defeated Ana Sofia Sanchez (Mexico) by 2-1 (6:0, 3:6, 6:2).
