Chloe Kelly is an English footballer who plays as a forward for the Women’s Super League club Manchester City and the England national team. She is the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 champion, scoring the winning goal in the final. Chloe Kelly also won the titles of the 2023 Women’s Finalissima and the 2023 Arnold Clark Cup with England national team, being awarded also with the golden boot of the 2023 Arnold Clark Cup. She also won the Women’s FA Cup in 2019/2020 and the FA Women’s League Cup in 2021/2022 with Manchester City.
Chloe Maggie Kelly was born on January 15, 1998, in London, England. She began playing football at a young age. Initially, she trained with Queens Park Rangers but later joined the Arsenal’s Centre of Excellence.
Chloe Kelly made her professional football debut on July 23, 2015, for Arsenal’s first team in the Continental Cup against Watford. Just after 22 minutes of play in the match, she scored her first gold. In February 2016, she signed her first senior contract. She made just a few minutes of play before being loaned to FA WSL 2 football club Everton to gain more experience. She made nine starts for Everton and scored two goals.
In October 2016, Chloe Kelly made three more appearances for Arsenal during the 2016 FA WSL season. In February 2017, she signed a new contract with Arsenal. She made seven appearances for the club and scored two goals before being loaned to Everton again.
In July 2017, Chloe Kelly returned to newly-promoted FA WSL 1 Everton for a second loan spell. She made four appearances for Everton and scored two goals in the remaining months of 2017. She scored her first senior hat-trick on in a 4–0 victory of Everton against Oxford United.
In January 2018, Chloe Kelly made a permanent transfer to Everton on contract through the summer of 2020. She made a total of 15 appearances for Everton during the 2017/2018 FA WSL season and scored two goals. During the 2018/2019 FA WSL season, Chloe Kelly made eleven appearances and scored a goal during the team’s 3–3 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion despite playing on an ankle injury throughout the season.
In 2019, Chloe Kelly had ankle surgery. However, the young English soccer talent returned quickly in form and made a fantastic performance. She scored nine goals in 12 games for Everton during the 2019/2020 FA WSL season helping the club climb the table to sixth place. She was the fourth-highest scorer in the league and the top goalscorer for Everton. In June 2020, Chloe Kelly left Everton after rejecting a new contract.
On July 3, 2020, it was announced Chloe Kelly had signed a two-year contract with Manchester City. In September 2020, she was named to the PFA WSL Team of the Year. On 4 October, she scored a brace against Tottenham Hotspur lifting the team to a 4–1 win.
In 2014, Kelly competed at the 2014 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship in England.[29][30][31] In November 2015, she scored an equalizer against Italy to earn a draw.[32]
In August 2018, Kelly was part of the England U20 squad that claimed bronze at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
At the international level, Chloe Kelly competed at the 2014 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship in England and the England U20 squad that claimed bronze at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup
She made her senior national team debut in November 2018, coming in as a substitute in a 3–0 friendly win over Austria in Vienna. Chloe Kelly was named in the England squad for UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, which England was hosting, in June 2022. On July 31, 2022, she came off the bench to score the winning goal in the 110th minute of the Women’s Euro 2022 final match against Germany, securing the win for England in extra time.
