Emma Raducanu misses Roland Garros and Wimbledon due to injury treatment

The 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu will be sidelined for the next few months due to injury treatment.

The 20-year-old British tennis talent posted a picture on social networks from her hospital bed after the surgical intervention on her right hand, and she will soon undergo a minor operation on her left ankle, which she injured in January in Auckland (New Zealand).

“The last ten months have been difficult for me. I did everything I could to deal with the pain and play. Since the end of last year, I have significantly reduced the loads, missed weeks of training, even ended the season early in an attempt to heal. Unfortunately, it was not enough”, wrote Emma Raducanu, who is a former world No 10 but will drop out of the top 100 due to the upcoming forced break.

Emma Raducanu has five wins in 10 matches in 2023 and was forced to withdraw of the WTA 1000 Madrid Open tournament last week due to arm problems.

Because of the operations, she will not be able to take part in the next two Grand Slam tournaments – Roland Garros and Wimbledon, in June and July.

“It hurts me that I will miss the summer tournaments, but I can no longer postpone solving my physical problems”, adds also Emma Raducanu.
