Elise Mertens is another top-seeded player to be eliminated in the first round of the WTA 1000 Rogers Cup (Canadian Open), after losing to Camila Giorgi with 2-0 (6:3, 7:5).
The match started equally, but in the fourth game, Belgian player, who is 9th seeded in the tournament and world No 16, received a break and Italian Camila Giorgi took advantage, winning the set with 6:3. Elise Mertens made 3 double faults during the set.
