Elena Rybakina withdrew from the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart due to injury

The 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) withdrew due to injury from the clay tournament WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.

Elena Rybakina was losing by 1:6, 1:3 to Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) and after asking for a medical timeout, decided that she could not finish the match.

The Russian-born Kazakhstan tennis player made great matches on clay a few days ago in the Billie Jean King Cup, but now the injury has hampered her. Beatriz Haddad Maia had the advantage of playing here in the previous days, as Germany hosted Brazil in the team event on the same courts, and that advantage served her well to take the first set 6-1.

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa eliminated her compatriot Cristina Bucsa by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2) in 71 minutes and in the quarterfinals, she will play against second seed and Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus).

The 4th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) defeated Tatjana Maria (Germany) by 2-0 (7:6, 6:4).
