The 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open. The 10th-seeded Kazakhstani tennis player defeated Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (7:6, 2:6, 6:4) in a match that lasted 2:48 hours.
The match was taught and started equally. Karolina Muchova registered the first break in the match in the 5th game of the first set and even served for the set but Elena Rybakina returned the break in the vet last moment after saving even a setpoint. In the 11th game of the set, Elena Rybakina missed a set point and the match went into a tiebreak. The Kazakhstani tennis player made a turnover in it and won by 7-4 to take a lead in the sets.
In the second set, Karolina Muchova made an early break and took a lead. She did not allow her opponent to equalize and after another break closed the set at 6:2 and equalized the sets.
The third set started equally and both players won their serving games. However, the terrible mistakes of Karolina Muchova at her own serve made the result 0-40 and in the second break point, Elena Rybakina won the game and took a lead. She missed another three break points in the 7th game, but in the end, succeeded to lose the set at 6:4 and won the match.
Elena Rybakina is waiting for her opponent, who will be the winner between the top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) and Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea.
