Danielle Collins is out of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open

American tennis star Danielle Collins is out of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open after losing to Dalma Galfi (Hungary) by 0-2 (4:6, 4:6) in the first round.

Danielle Collins was unstable on the court and made a lot of unforced errors, which was not missed by her opponent and the Hungarian player succeeded to take a straight-set victory.

The first set started with an early break for Dalma Galfi, who later made a second break and at 5:2 was serving for the match. Either Danielle Collins succeeded to save the set after returning one of the breaks, the Hungarian tennis player did not miss the chance at her second serving opportunity and closed the set at 6:4.

The second set was running equally and either having two breaks for each of them, none of the both succeeded to confirm the break. However, in the 9th game of the set Dalma Galfi made her third break for the set and served for the match. This time, she was excellent and closed her serving game on zero to win by 6:4 again and qualify for the next round.

In the next round, Dalma Galfi will face the 5th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France).

Sorana Cirstea (Romania) also advanced to the second round of the tennis tournament after defeating Kimberly Birrell (Australia) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2). In the next round the Romanian player will face 15th-seeded Madison Keys (USA).

Varvara Gracheva (Russia), who last week played her first WTA final, also advanced to the second round after winning her opening match versus Ysaline Bonaventure (Belgium).

In the other match from the first round of the tournament, Bernarda Pera (USA) defeated Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) by 2-1 (7:5, 4:6, 6:3), while Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) eliminated Jule Niemeier (Germany) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:4) and Tatjana Maria (Germany) won her match versus Jasmine Paolini (Germany) also by 2-0 (7:5, 6:1).

British tennis talent Emma Raducanu also qualified for the second round of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open after defeating Danka Kovinic (Montenegro) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3).
