Cori Coco Gauff continues with her convincing performance at the Australian Open

Cori Coco Gauff (USA) continues with her convincing performance at the Australian Open and qualified for the third round after defeating her compatriot Caroline Dolehide by 2-0 (7:6, 6:2) in 1:44 hours.

The 4th-seeded Coco Gauff started strongly the match with an early break and took a lead by 3:0. However, she allowed her opponent to equalize for 4:4 and after another exchange of breaks the set entered into a tiebreak. However, her nerves were stronger and won by 7-2.

The second set was under the total domination of Cori Coco Gauff, who won five games in a row to close the set at 6:2 and win the match.

In the third round, she will face another American tennis player – Alycia Parks, who earlier today defeated Leylah Fernandez (Canada) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:4).

Amanda Anisimova (USA) also qualified for the third round after eliminated Nadia Podoroska (Argentina) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3). In the next round the American player will face Paula Badosa (Spain), who defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3).

The 8th-seeded Maria Sakkari (Greece) was knocked out in the second round of the tournament after losing to Elina Avanesyan (Russia) by 0-2 (4:6, 4:6). Same was the fate of 16th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France), who lost to Magdalena Frech (Poland) by 0-2 (4:6, 6:7) and the 25th-seeded Elise Mertens (Belgium), who missed a match point and eventually lost to Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) by 1-2 (7:5, 1:6, 6:7).

Meanwhile, Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine) eliminated Rebeka Masarova (Spain) after 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) and Anastasia Zakharova (Russia) defeated Kaja Juvan (Slovenia) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1).

The second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) did not faced any problems to overcome the 16-year-old Czech talent Brenda Fruhvirtova after 2-0 (6:3, 6:2) in 68 minutes of play.
