Coco Gauff: I beat the accusations of a bad season

American tennis player Coco Gauff pays attention to what people say about her online and sometimes takes pleasure in responding, so it’s no surprise that she took to social media to write a message after finishing 2024 with a win at the WTA Finals. This brought her 4.8 million USD of prize money.

“Haha, I can say I’ve beat the bad season accusations”, wrote Coco Gauff. “There were a lot of highs and lows. At times I felt great and at others I felt terrible. All in all, a typical year on the tennis tour”, added the 20-year-old American.

“Worst? Definitely my loss at the US Open. I felt like that was a tough loss for me because I double-faulted so many times. I felt like I was close, but I just didn’t give it my best shot”, commented Coco Gauff. “The key is when you hit rock bottom, the only way you can go is up. I just decided to embrace the losses and the wins as I work on my game”, added she, reflecting on the tough times of the year.

Cori Coco Gauff made an impressive comeback to win the WTA Final in Riyadh, beating Qinwen Zheng (China) by 2-1 (3:6, 6:4, 7:6). The American tennis talent missed four match points but reached a tiebreak in which she was very inspired and gave only two points to her opponent
