Chinese gymnast Zhu Xueying won the women’s trampoline title at the Tokyo Olympics. The 23-year-old Zhu Xueying, who is a three-time world champion from Sofia 2017 and St Petersburg 2018, reached success with 56.635 points.
She beat her compatriot Liu Lingling, the 2014 world champion, by just 0.285 points.
The bronze medal was won by the Olympic runner-up from Rio 2016 Bryony Page (Great Britain) with 55.735 points.
Two-time Olympic champion from London 2012 and Rio 2016 Rosie MacLennan (Canada) failed to take third consecutive gold after finishing fourth with 55.460 points.
Although China has a total of 11 Olympic medals on the trampoline, Zhu Xueying’s gold is only the second since the sport was included in the program of the Games in 2000, and China has another women’s title.
Japan’s hopes for the first-ever Olympic trampoline medal ended in failure after current world champion Hikaru Mori failed to qualify.
