Barcelona Femeni is in the final of the UEFA Women Champions League after hard victory versus Paris SG Feminine by 2-1 and eliminating them with an aggregate score of 3-2. The victory means Lluis Cortes’s team is into the final for the second time in three years and will be hoping to lift the trophy for the first time.
All the interesting moments of the match were in the first half, as Lieke Martens opened the result in the 8th minute with a brilliant solo goal after the assistance of Leila Ouahabi.
Barcelona Femeni doubled their lead in the 31st minute after Lieke Martens converted Caroline Graham Hansen’s cross at the far post to secure her second of the match.
Paris SG Feminine returned into the match in the 34th minute, after Marie-Antoinette Katoto scored, giving the visitors hope of a comeback in the second half.
The second half gave plenty of chances for both sides. However, there were very dramatic misses by both team players. The most impressive was, when Alexia Putellas won a penalty and Lieke Martens stepped up but was denied a hat-trick by goalkeeper Christiane Endler.
Marta Torrejon also hit the crossbar for Barcelona Femeni in the second half.
Thus, Barca will face Chelsea FC Women in the UEFA Women Champions League final on May 16.
