Aryna Sabalenka smashed Shelby Rogers and advanced to the third round of the Australian Open

Aryna Sabalenka achieved a convincing victory over Shelby Rogers in the second round of the Australian Open. The 5th-seeded Belarusian prevailed by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1) and has not lost a set since the start of the tournament.

Aryna Sabalenka started hesitantly and had to catch a break in the first set, but she quickly found the right rhythm and did not allow a surprise to happen.

Elise Mertens will be Aryna Sabalenka’s opponent in the next round. The Belgian overcame Lauren Davis in two sets and got the victory by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3). The 26th-seeded Elise Mertens dictated the match with precise shots from the baseline and confidently cruised to victory.

Out of the tournament is the 9th-seeded Veronika Kudermetova. The Russian player lost by 1-2 (4:6, 6:2, 2:6) to Katie Volynets from the USA. The American made twice as many winners and didn’t land a single ace, but benefited from the fact that Veronika Kudermetova made 47 unforced errors.
