American Katie Nageotte won the Olympic title in the women’s pole vault

American Katie Nageotte won the Olympic title in the women’s pole vault.

The 30-year-old American athlete, who has not had much success on the international stage so far, was the only one to overcome the height of 4.90 meters. Katie Nageotte did this from a second attempt at a time when it seemed that it would be difficult to cope with the Russian Anzhelika Sidorova.

The world champion from Doha was the only one to overcome all heights up to 4.85 meters from the first attempt. At 4.90 meters, the representative of the Russian Olympic Committee committed two fouls before moving to 4.95 meters, which also did not bring her success.

The bronze went to the British Holly Bradshaw, who also scored 4.85 meters, but she committed one foul each at 4.70 meters and 4.80 meters.

Final ranking in the women’s pole vault:
1. Katie Neigiot (USA) – 4.90 meters
2. Angelica Sidorova (Russian Olympic Committee) – 4.85 meters
3. Holly Bradshaw (Great Britain) – 4.85 meters
4. Katerina Stefanidi (Greece) – 4.80 meters
5. Maryna Kylypko (Ukraine) – 4.50 meters
